About David Brimm...
David Brimm is president of BrimmComm, Inc., a full-service
public relations and marketing communications firm. He has 23
years of experience in the corporate, agency and not-for-profit
sectors, with a specialization in corporate counseling,
strategic planning and crisis communication.
He was formerly a Managing Partner of Werle + Brimm, Ltd., where
his account responsibilities included American INVSCO, Fujisawa
Pharmaceuticals, Burger King, Dominick’s Finer Foods, Palwaukee
Municipal Airport, American Academy of Pediatrics, Mobile
Cellutions,, Society for Academic Emergency Medicine,
Binks-Sames, C&S Valve, American Podiatric Medical Association,
Hexacomb Packaging, and Kendall Orthotics.
Earlier, he served as Managing Director of the Chicago office of
Manning, Selvage & Lee, one of the world's 10 largest public
relations agencies. He supervised work that included M&M/Mars,
GE Capital Financial Corp, American Association of Nurse
Anesthetists, Homart Development Company, Stewart Warner,
American Crystal Sugar Company, National Highway Traffic Safety
Administration, and William M. Mercer.
As an Executive Vice President of Porter/Novelli, another one of
the top 10, he supervised work on behalf of Dr. Scholl's,
Schering-Plough, General Mills, Frito Lay, American Medical
Association, Lowe's Inc., National Roofing Contractors
Association and for Dial Corp.
Prior to his agency work, he served as Public Relations Manager
for Dun & Bradstreet's Technical Publishing Division,
coordinating marketing activities for 21 magazines in the
technical, engineering and business-to-business sectors.
He began his public relations career as an Account Supervisor
for Smith, Bucklin & Associates, the country's largest
association management firm, where he supervised association
clients in the food, housewares, utility and construction
industries. He also edited a national food publication.
Brimm is the first member of the Publicity Club of Chicago to
serve four terms as president. He is a three-time recipient of
the prestigious Gold Trumpet Award, and two-time recipient of
the Silver Trumpet Award, from the Publicity Club of Chicago.
About Debbie Lawrence...
Debbie Lawrence is vice president of client services for
BrimmComm, Inc. With 20+ years of broad based marketing & public
relations experience on both the corporate and agency sides, she
treats each client’s business as if it were her own. Her
experience includes: health care, consumer product marketing,
public relations, crises management, direct response, brand
management, media spokesperson, and new product & concept
development.
For BrimmComm Deb has worked extensively with clients covering
many industries, including hospitals, banking, electronics,
health care and many others.
Focusing on non-profit organization donor relations, Deb
developed and managed programs for the Annual Meeting of the
American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons sponsored President’s
Benefit, designed to raise grant funds for orthopaedic research
(featuring performers such as Jay Leno, the Beach Boys & Mary
Chapin Carpenter) that exceeded financial objectives.
Deb managed an Orthobiotech sponsored specialty marketing event
that positioned Procrit® to orthopaedic surgeons, and featured
Cirque du Soleil at Downtown Disney more than doubling the
initial ROI objectives.
Working with Searle Pharmaceuticals Global Marketing Team,
Debbie contributed to projects involving domestic and
international research projects that included qualitative and
quantitative positioning studies, message map studies, and
(multi -country) product profiles for the introduction of
Celebrex®
On staff at the American Academy of Pediatrics, she was
responsible for
developing strategic medical marketing programs, including a
co-op patient education program introducing the Merck Varicella
vaccine to pediatricians and patient families.
Previously Deb served as director of marketing for Hinckley &
Schmitt Bottled Water Company, directing national & regional
programs including business acquisitions, new product
development, crises management, media relations, sponsorships
and special events. Some of her successful programs included:
• Establishing a medical advisory board consisting of physicians
and other health professionals responsible for new product
development, FDA compliance, and review of marketing programs
for medical appropriateness.
• Developing crises management guidelines and procedural plan to
be utilized during natural disasters, quality control issues,
and other sensitive matters. Corporate FEMA contact.
• Initiating strategic partnerships and programs with American
Academy of Pediatrics, American Dietetic Association, and the
American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry.
• Managing national and regional special events/sports marketing
programs, including NFL, NBA, festivals, marathons, and health
oriented programs.
Earlier in her career, Deb worked for A.J. Rosenthal
Advertising, Inc. managing accounts that included Spangler Candy
Company, Helene Curtis, Swift Premium Meats, MacGregor-Riddell
Sporting Goods, and Fred’s Frozen Foods.
Deb began her marketing career in telecommunications for GTE
Directories Corporation representing GTE on the Presidential
Inaugural Committee in Washington, DC.
About Amy Levin...
Amy has more than 15 years of PR experience, the majority of
which was spent serving top clients within the Chicago office of
Burson-Marsteller’s marketing practices group. She has a deep
background in account work directed to women, including work on
behalf of leading brands in food (Borden Foods Company and its
Wyler’s Bouillon and Cracker Jack brands, NutraSweet/Equal
Sweetener), personal care (Procter & Gamble's Pert Plus
shampoo), P&G's baby products (Pampers), and home products
(Cheer, Tide and S.C. Johnson Wax).
Amy also worked within Burson-Marsteller’s Corporate
Communications Group, where she served on client teams serving
Sears, Ameritech and others encompassing employee relations,
crisis communications and investor relations.
Her skills in media relations, special events, new product
launches, integrated promotions and product marketing have
earned her numerous industry awards.
Amy graduated from Eastern Illinois University with a Bachelor
of Arts in Communications and Public Relations.
